Robot Prison Guards

Robot Prison Guards of the Day

Robot Prison Guards of the Day: South Korean prisons will begin employing robot guards that use sensors to alert actual human guards of any “abnormal behavior.”

The five-foot tall robots were developed by Kyonggi University in an $850,000 project funded by South Korea’s Ministry of Knowledge Economy. They’ll mostly be used at night.

The robots are designed to detect violence or suicidal behavior, and they have on-board communication systems that allow prisoners to communicate with human officers.

They could be tested in actual prisons as soon as next March.
