Bacon-Based Recruiting Strategy of the Day

Bacon-Based Recruiting Strategy of the Day: When Microsoft needed to double the number of engineers on the Kinect for Windows team, they tried a unique tactic to poach some developers from other companies: luring them with bacon.

Microsoft and Seattle-based ad agency Wexley School for Girls set up bacon carts outside Google and Amazon, giving away packets of bacon with the slogan “Wake Up and Smell the Future.”

Apparently the future smells like Windows and delicious, delicious fried meat.

No word on whether any new recruits took the bacon bait, but the cart is reportedly headed to other Seattle-area tech firms in the coming weeks.
