Big Bang Theory Makes Physics More Popular of the Day

Big Bang Theory Makes Physics More Popular of the Day: Physics is gaining popularity as a subject of study in the UK, and some people are citing the popularity of the sitcom The Big Bang Theory, which follows the lives of two young and nerdy physicists.

Stats cited in The Guardian show that since the program started airing in the UK back in 2008, there has been a noticeable increase in students who are accepted to universities with the intent of studying physics. Physics is also now one of the top ten areas of study for A-level students, whereas it was considered “vulnerable” back in 2005.

Joe Winters, a spokesman for the Institute of Physics has even stated, “The rise in popularity of physics appears to be due to a range of factors, including…the might of the Large Hadron Collider and, we’re sure, the popularity of shows like The Big Bang Theory.”

I hope they all realize that studying physics doesn’t automatically get you an attractive neighbor.
