Harry Potter News of the Day

Harry Potter News of the Day: The fifth Quidditch World Cup is currently underway on Randall’s Island in New York City, featuring about 2,000 athletes, 100 teams, and only one cup for the championship team.

The video above is of a match yesterday between Harvard and the Jetpack Ninja Dinosaurs from Colorado. It’s 10 minutes long, but you can at least get an idea of what Quidditch looks like without the aid of magic spells.

Described as a mix between rugby, flag football, and dodgeball by a University of Kansas team member, the two-day event is sponsored by the International Quidditch Association. You can see a short interview with the University of Kansas team after the jump.

In other Harry Potter news, The Making of Harry Potter attraction at the Warner Bros. Studio in London will open in the spring of next year, and many who already bought tickets have received them in the mail.
